Wyatt's Power to Read

When I use to be in the 7 grade, to me reading was a pain in the butt or something boring. For a while I just didn't read anything, but now that I'm in the 8th grade, that has changed. Mr.Locker has shown me that reading is not all that painful ,that reading is really fun. Now when I go home I will sometimes pick up a book and read it for a change. Some of the other reasons I did not read was because my previous teachers said I had to read big books which were boring. Mr. Locker lets me pick my own books and when he does, he picks out really cool books and they are not really large books. So now I'm more willing to read a big book, I think the biggest book I've read so far was 356 pages long. Now you might think that this is not a lot of reading, but for me it was a lot. I'm still pushing myself to read more longer books, but I'm not there yet.

Reading has really become a part of my life now. There is a place I go to, twice a week , called the Kingdom Hall. Their I have a bible reading which is 4 minuets long. When I go home I force myself to pick up a book and read it because I have a lot of books at home. Its just that I've read about all of them and need new ones. In my room I have a spot were I have all of my favorite books . Some of them are "BONE" by Jeff Smith, "The Boy Who Couldn't Die" by William Sleator, and "DEATH WIND" by William Bell. One time when I was reading outside I was so into my book that I almost walked into a pole. At that moment I felt a little stupid, I glanced around a little to see if anybody was looking. I think that reading is something you must make a part of your life in order to prosper. If you think about it, where would we be today if we could not read, no where right? I hope that when I die there is a book in my hand instead of a flower. So just remember, "never stop reading".
